Our Methodology

Most people, at some time in their lives are faced with the decision of hiring a lawyer.Whether you are buying a home, starting a business, have a criminal issue, have been injured, want to protect an idea or invention, want to protect your assets or want to created an estate plan with a will and trust, all of these issues and more require the knowledge and expertise of a lawyer.
The goal of Top Attorneys Of America is to help make the selection process easier.  Top Attorneys Of America utilizes a proprietary mathematical formula and applies this formula to many different criteria.  The maximum rating is 100 of 100 points.  Any attorney with a rating over 90 points is considered Superior by Top Attorneys of America.  Some of the criteria used by our ratings team include education, years in practice, publications, recognitions, community and charitable services, pro bono work, uncompromising ethical standards of practice and billing, peer and client reviews and ratings, bar association recognized training in specialties and more.
The lawyers listed on Top Attorneys of America websites cannot buy their way onto this list. Only lawyers with an outstanding history of practice in their fields are chosen to be included in this list. Top Attorneys may offer pre selected attorneys the opportunity to be featured on our site and in our printed literature.
Ultimately, the decision by our editors of which lawyers will be on our annual list may also be subject to a limit by geographic area and practices areas to create a balanced group of lawyers to the public.
Many lawyers will remain on our Top Attorney of America lists for years although we make every effort to bring in new attorneys on an annual basis and encourage the nomination of attorneys by both clients and peers.
Top Attorneys Of America recognizes the importance of hiring a lawyer and makes every effort to insure that the listed lawyers are living up to their reviews. Top Attorneys always recommends checking with the State Bar associations to insure that the attorney is active and in good standing.
